Little Rock Greys (1931-1933)

The Little Rock Greys, also referred to as Little Rock Black Travelers, Little Rock Gray Travelers and the Little Rock Stars, were a Negro baseball team in Little Rock, AR and members of the Negro Southern League from 1931-1933.

History

According to Thomas Aiello's Fading of the Greys: Black Baseball and Historical Memory in Little Rock, the Little Rock Greys joined the Negro Southern League in July, 1931. Following the season, Little Rock joined a proposed Tri-State League. However, the league collapsed before the start of the season. Instead, Little Rock rejoined the Negro Southern League, a league credited as the only "major" negro league in 1932.

Before the start of the season, the team was sold to Ernest "Buddy" Nolan. The Greys dropped out of the league in mid-season with a losing record. The team was sold again in January, 1933 to Walter Harvey Laney and again joined the Negro Southern League. However, the league folded in May.
