Biography
Nunley was born in Des Arc, AR to James Nunley and Clara (nee Waller) Nunley.3 4 By 1920, Nunley and his mother moved to Little Rock, AR. His parents divorced in 1927,5 and his mother remarried and moved Nunley to South Bend, IN by 1930.6 Nunley lived most of the rest of his life in South Bend.7
Nunley's career likely began with the Negro Southern League's Little Rock Grays in 19318 9 and 193210 and Little Rock Stars in 1933.11 12 Afterward, he shifted to the Memphis Red Sox from 1934-1935 and later appeared with the Detroit Colored Giants in 1937.13
Nunley died on December 5th, 1979 in South Bend, IN.14 15 He was buried in Riverview Cemetery in South Bend, IN.
