Edgar Cowan

Edgar Monroe "Cabin" Cowan, born December 8th, 1885 in Lamar, AR1 , was a professional baseball player. He was the brother of Weaver Cowan.

Biography

Cowan was the uncle of actor Lana Turner.

He may also have been known as Fred and played in 1920 with Augusta2 .

Cowan died on December 25th, 1954 in Clarksville, AR3 and was buried in Lamar Cemetery in Lamar, AR4 .

"Edgar Cowan, a shortstop and third baseman in the Texas, Southern and other minor leagues before World War I and an uncle of Movie Star Lana Turner, died at a hospital in Clarksville, Ark., December 25, at the age of 68. He had been a resident of Lamar, Ark. Cowan broke in with the Temple, Tex., in 1907, played with San Antonio and Shreveport in 1909 and subsequently was with Shreveport in 1910, Oklahoma City in 1911, Beaumont and Marshall in 1912, Selma in 1913 and 1914 and Mobile in 1915."5
