Frank Dodson

Frank James Dodson, born October 18th, 1897 in Coal Hill, AR,1 was a professional baseball player from 1920-1929. He was the brother of Mike Dodson.

Biography

Dodson was the son of George E. Dodson and Miley (nee Cruson) Dodson.2

Dodson died on December 7th, 1952 in Steelton, PA3 and was buried in Churchville Cemetery in Oberlin, PA4

"Frank James Dodson, a pitcher of the '20s, died at his home in Steelton, Pa., December 7, after an illness of three weeks. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Mrs. Mailey Smart of Paxtang, Pa., a son George of Steelton; a sister a brother and four grandchildren. Born in Coalhill [sic], Ark., 55 years ago, Dodson was signed by the Cardinals in 1920 and sent to Fort Smith for the season. Recalled in the fall, he was released to Syracuse in 1921. With Oklahoma City and Rochester in 1922 and Richmond in 1923 and 1924, he bought by the Giants and given a spring trail in 1925. The Giants returned him to Richmond and he finished the 1925 season with Atlanta. After playing with Shamokin in 1926, he was acquired by Harrisburg in 1927 and wound up his career with that club in 1929."5
