Leo Sanders

Leo Sanders, born March 10th, 1914 in Vian, Oklahoma1 was a Negro League baseball player in 1940. He lived some of his early life in Van Buren, AR.

Biography

Sanders was the son of Alfred Sanders and Maud (nee Polk) Sanders.2 He lived in Van Buren, AR for a time as a child, but later moved to Muskogee, OK where he lived most of his life.

The 1940 U.S. Census lists Sander's occupation as "Ball Player" for the "Texas Black Spiders," with whom he probably played in 1939. The following year, he joined the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro American League.3

Sanders died on August 4th, 1999 in Muskogee, OK.4 He was buried in Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.5
