Biography
Davis was the son of Saul Davis Sr. and Cora Veasey.2 3 He was raised at the Monticello Academy school in Monticello, AR.
Davis died on February 8th, 1994 in Minot, ND.4 5 He was buried in Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.6

Davis' birthplace is disputable. He himself said he was born in Louisiana in Turkey Stearnes and the Detroit Stars: The Negro Leagues in Detroit, 1919-1933, by Richard Bak. However, some sources indicate that he was born in Monticello, AR, including Davis' WWII draft card (accessed at Fold3.com). The 1920 U.S. Census gives his birthplace as Arkansas. His parents, Saul and Cora Davis, were married in Monticello, AR in 1897 and were living in Monticello in 1900, shortly before Davis' birth. His younger brother, Thurlo Davis, was born in Monticello in about 1903.
