Bill Hair

William Garnett Hair, born June 13th, 1921 in Devalls Bluff, AR1 , was a professional baseball player from 1941-1956. He resided in Stuttgart, AR most of his life.


Hair died in May, 1980 in Stuttgart, AR.2 He was buried in Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart.3


"Andalusia, Ala. - Bill Hair, Andalusia's sensational righthander, turned in his ninth pitching triumph with no losses, the night of June 12th, defeating Troy, 7 to 1, and yielding only four hits. Hair, who was 18 years old, June 13, weighs only 137 pounds. He has one of the fastest pitches in the league, including effective change-up and a sharp curve. This is Hair's first venture in Organized Ball. He played semi-pro ball in and around his home town, Stuttgart, Ark. Hair has finished eight of the first nine game he started and went in as relief pitching in two others. In the 84 innings, he gave up 82 hits and struck out 58 batters. He is hitting .353."4
