Excerpts

"RUSSELLVILLE, Ark., June 14 — Baseball fans saw an exciting game from start to finish, Thursday, when the Ft. Smith Goldman Hotel Grays met the Russellville Sluggers on Buerkle Field. It was a pitcher's duel between Shepperd for the Grays and Atchison for the Sluggers. Atchison allowed the visitors three runs, while Shepperd allowed the Sluggers four, making the tally 4-3."19

"The Dubisson Tigers, a local Negro baseball team, will meet the Goldman Hotel Grays of Fort Smith in a double-header at 3:30 this at Crump Park, Thirty-third and State streets. Cunningham or McCarroll will pitch for the Tigers and Hawkins will catch. The Tigers split a double-header with the Grays early in the season."20
