John Champe "J.C." Carter was an amateur baseball player for the 1883 Ozark Athletics baseball team. He was born in 1862 as the oldest son of Dr. Wallace A. Carter of Ozark, AR. In 1911, J.C. became the brother-in-law of Senator and former Arkansas Governor Jeff Davis when his sister Lelia married the politician.
