Luther Atkinson

Luther Atkinson, born February 28th, 1907 in Arkansas,1 was a Negro League baseball player with the Butte Colored Giants from 1933-1936 and in 1939. He was the brother of Toussaint Atkinson and the cousin of Connie Rector.2

Atkinson was the son of Porter J. Atkinson and Isabell (nee Trigg) Atkinson and grew up near Arkadelphia, AR.3

During his playing career, Atkinson appeared in newspapers as "Atkins."

Atkinson later lived in San Francisco, CA. He died on May 21st, 1948 in San Francisco.4 He was buried in Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Colma, CA. 5
