"Philip Henderson, 71, of Russellville, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Baptist Health Medical Center of Little Rock. He was born July 18, 1944, at Springfield, Missouri, to Coval Dean and Ruth Irene Donley Henderson. Philip was a high school athlete and excelled in baseball. He played professional baseball for the Cincinnati Reds organization. At age 32, he re-dedicated his life to Christ and attended Calvary Bible College. His passion was to study the bible, and over the years accumulated a marvelous library. He had such a love for God and His word. He served in churches for 35 years as a teacher and spiritual counselor. He was a loan officer for a home improvement mortgage company and was the owner of a home improvement business until his illness in 1996 curtailed physical activity. He was a dedicated family man who loved his family and especially loved being a grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jerald Henderson. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cheryl Henderson; an ex-wife, Sharron Teller of Belton, Missouri; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Casey Henderson of McHenry, Illinois and ex-daughter-in-law, Lisa Henderson of Overland Park, Kansas and Todd and Leslie Boles of Russellville; one daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Ray Close of Raytown, Missouri; one brother, Gary Henderson of Springfield, Missouri; one sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Eddie Fisher of Kimberling City, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Jan Henderson of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Chris Henderson and Jon Henderson of San Jose, California, Zachary Boles of Conway and Jacob Boles and Alec Boles of Russellville; and many nieces and nephews. Private burial was in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri. The memorial services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Shawnee Bible Church in Shawnee, Kansas, officiated by the Rev. Darrell Godfrey, and at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville, officiated by the Rev. Doug Hambrick. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville."3
