"Richard Davis, 87, of Bella Vista passed away November 10, 2011 at his home. He was born July 17, 1924 in Radcliff, Arkansas son of Cleve Davis and Emma Pearson. He graduated from Charleston High School in Arkansas. Then he signed with St. Louis Cardinals organization. He served in the U.S. navy in WWII. On October 11, 1947 he married Marjorie in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a manager with Mayfair Grocer in California, then moved to Warrensburg and owned Davis IGA from 1968-1972. Later he worked for Western Auto store in Salina, Kansas and also managed the Vogue Theater there. In 1989 he retired and moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas. He worked at Kingsland Golf Course for 10 years. He was a member of Unity of the Ozarks and The American Legion. He is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Onnie Haney Davis, sisters, Zelta Mae Caldwell, Hazel Gentry and brothers Otis and Stanley Dean and daughter, Deborah. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie; sister, Beatrice; son Rick of Salina, Kansas; daughter and son-in-law Diana and Mike Calhoon of Centerview, Missouri, son-in-law, Steve Henson of Bangkok, Thailand; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Family will have a private Memorial Service."2
