Biography
Childs was the son of Ed Childs and Hattie (nee Poe) Childs.4 5 He spent his youngest years in Pine Bluff, AR, but moved to St. Louis, MO by 1917.6 After the death of his mother, he lived at Bellefontaine Farms, a school for neglected and homeless children near St. Louis.
Childs, a small infielder,7 played with the Grasselli Giants in 1934,8 the Detroit Colored Giants in 1935 and 1936,9 10 , the Indianapolis Athletics in 1937, the Columbia Giants in 1938,11 and the Memphis Red Sox in 1938.
Childs died on November 25th, 1977 in San Diego, CA.12

Hattie Childs' Missouri Death Certificate gives her mother as Sallie Easter. Hennie Poe's Texas Death certificate also gives her mother as Sallie Easter. Both were living in Pine Bluff, AR in the 1910 census. Hattie Poe married Ed Childs in England, AR in 1901.
