Bill McCrary

William McCrary ("Youngblood"), born November 5th, 1929 in Beliot, WI1 , was a Negro League baseball player from 1946-1947 and a professional baseball player in 1950. McCrary lived in Hot Springs Village, AR for many years.

Biography

McCrary grew up in Beloit, WI. He was the son of William McCrary Sr. and Estella McCrary.2

McCrary attended a tryout with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1946, but instead earned a job with the Kansas City Monarchs. Teammate Satchel Paige nicknamed him "Youngblood" on account of his youth.

In 1950, McCrary played with the Janesville Cubs in the Wisconsin State League.

McCrary died on July 24th, 2018.3
