Buddy Allen

Lamar "Buddy" Allen, born November 25th, 1914, in Pine Bluff, AR, was a Negro League baseball player with the Birmingham Black Barons about 1940.

Multiple sources indicate Allen played the Birmingham Barons. This is quite possible considering Allen had a long career in athletics. In 1937, he played with the El Dorado Black Lions?. He was also an All-American quarterback for AM&N college before coaching the football program at the school from 1942-1951. Allen was inducted into the Southwestern Athletic Conference Hall of Fame in 1999.

Allen died on May 16th, 1989 in Los Angeles, CA.

It is possible Buddy Allen is the same as the Alex Allen listed for the 1940 Birmingham Barons on Baseball-Reference.com.
