Johnson was the son of Alice (nee Totten) Johnson Smith.4
In 1931, Johnson played with the New York Colored Stars, a team that barnstormed in western Canada.5 In 1933 he was with the All-Nations Clowns barnstorming team.6
Johnson died on June 10th, 2006 in Chicago, IL.7 8 He was buried in Oak Woods Cemetery in Chicago, IL.9
