
Dozier Charles Hood , born November 22nd, 1912 in Morrilton, AR1 was a Negro League baseball player with the Kansas City Monarchs around 1944-1945.
Biography
Hood was the son of William Hood and Josephine (nee Rosser) Hood.2 Hood was raised in Morrilton, AR.3
Hood moved to Kansas City around 1932.4 He may have played catcher with the Fourth Ward Democrats in Kansas City from 1933-1934.5 A driver by trade,6 7 8 Hood became a bus driver for the Kansas City Monarchs in the mid 1940s.9 He may have become associated with the team through his connection with Monarch's pitcher Booker McDaniel who was also from the Morrilton area. Hood also occasionally served as a backup catcher for the Monarchs in 1944 and 1945.10
Hood was convicted of forgery in 1947 and spent several years at in prison at Leavenworth, KS.11 12
Hood died on February 9th, 1978 in Kansas City, MO.13 14 He was cremated.
