Fred Hawn

Fred Arthur Hawn , born September 29th, 19061 in Huntsville, AR,2 was a professional baseball player from 1929-1945 and a professional baseball manager from 1934-1945, and a professional baseball scout from 1945-1973. He lived most his life in Fayetteville, AR.


Hawn later became a long-time scout for the St. Louis Cardinals before retiring in 1973.3

Hawn died in Fayetteville, AR on August 23, 1985.4 The remains were cremated.5


"Fred A. Hawn, 78, of Fayetteville, a retired baseball scout for the St. Louis Cardinals, died Friday. Hawn managed the Cardinals' farm teams prior to 1946 and was a scout for the St. Louis organization for more than 30 years before retiring in 1973. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, an Episcopalian and is survived by his wife, Maude Gold Hawn."6
