Hope (1905)

Hope was professional baseball team based in Hope, AR in the 1905 North Texas League.

History

The team was created was the Paris, TX franchise was awarded to Hope, AR in July, 1905 (1). Hope took over on July 21st, and assumed Paris' 5-2 record in the second half. The team played it's first game on July 21st (2).

On August 4th, the Texarkana team disbanded due to an outbreak of Yellow Fever, weakening the North Texas League (3). Two days later, the Clarksville team did the same for the same reason (4), leaving only Hope and Greenville in the league. The two teams played two more games regardless, but the league season ended promptly when the managers of the two teams were arrested for playing on Sunday. Greenville disbanded the same day (5). Hope instead went and played a series of games with the Wolfe City, TX team.
