John W. Brown

John Wesley Brown, born October 23rd, 1918 in Hamburg, AR,1 was a Negro League baseball player.

Biography

Brown was the son of Henry R. Brown and Matilda (nee Bethune) Brown. He was born in Hamburg, AR, before he and his family moved to nearby Crossett, AR at a young age.2

Brown played with the Greenville (MS) Black Bucks in 1938.3 4

Brown played in the first 1946 East West All-Star game.

Brown died on March 4th, 1999 in Detroit, MI.5
