A.U. Williams Field was a ballpark located on the campus of Ouachita Baptist College. Between 1916-1917, the field was used as a spring training camp for the Kansas City Blues of the class AA American Association. In addition, the field was also the site of an exhibition games between the Blues and Pittsburgh Pirates in 1916 and the Blues and the Cincinnati Reds in 1917.
History
The field was named after Arthur Upton Williams, a physician from Hot Springs, AR who made a large donation towards its purchase. In 1916,in preparation for the arrival of the Blues, a new grandstand was built at A.U. Williams Field and the diamond was put into shape.
A.U. Williams Field continued to be used by Ouachita Baptist baseball teams for many years, and in 1960, a new A. U. Williams Field was built on campus and the university’s football team still plays there.
