Arky Chesnut

Arthur Carl "Arky" Chesnut, born February 15th, 19121 in Arkansas,2 was a professional baseball player with Fayetteville in the 1934 Arkansas State League.

Chesnut grew up in Salem, AR, the son of Forest Chesnut and Jessie Chesnut.3

Chesnut joined Fayetteville of the Arkansas State League in June, 1934. He played only five games with the team, playing left field and going 7 for 19. Later, he played with the Ada Independents of Ada, OK from 1936-1938,4 and Seminole, OK in 1939.5

Chesnut married Lois Loveall in 1939.6 He worked for Wilson Packing Company in Oklahoma City, OK and managed the company's baseball team.7

Chesnut died on May 24, 1988 in Tecumseh, OK,8 and was buried in Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Shawnee, OK.9

The left fielder also has a good throw-in from his left field position and covers plenty of territory in going after fly balls."12

The bride received her education at Earlsboro and East Central state college here. Mr. Chesnut, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chesnut of Salem, Ark., was educated at Omega. Mr. and Mrs. Chesnut will make their home in Oklahoma City, where the former is employed by the Wilson Packing Company."14
