William J. "Bill" Oberle, born January 2nd, 19271 in Little Rock, AR2 , was a professional baseball player from 1944-1947.

Oberle died on June 23rd, 1998 in Helena, AR3 , and was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Helena4 .

"Born in Little Rock, Ark., Oberle went to Catholic High in Little Rock where he played fullback and end on the football team and all three outfields on the baseball club. He graduated in June 1944 and in August entered the Navy. After 22 months service he returned home and joined the Amarillo, Texas club. later he was shipped to Helena and finished with the Seaporters, batting .220 and playing first base, center and right field and pitching. He was in spring training with Little Rock and sent here by the Travelers."7

Survivors include his wife, Jo Phillips Oberle ; sons, John, Bud and David Oberle ; daughters, Mary McDaniel and Claudia Mays; one brother; nine grandchildren. Funeral services: 11 a.m. today, St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery by Roller-Citizens."8
