"William R. " Bill " Talbot Sr., 79, of Magnolia died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the Magnolia Hospital. Bill was born July 24, 1927, in Centerville, Miss., to the late Leon and Lillian Talbot . He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Bobbie Talbot , who passed away on April 5 th of this year. He is survived by a daughter, Suzann Floyd of Conway; a son, Bill Talbot Jr. of Magnolia; and a cherished granddaughter, Caroline Talbot of Fayetteville, Ark. Bill graduated from Emerson High School in 1945 where he was an all-state basketball player. Following high school, he played professional baseball for various teams located in El Dorado, Texarkana, Texas, Dothan, Ala., and Memphis, Tenn. He continued his love for baseball as a coach and team sponsor for many years at the old Joe Baskin Field and later at the Magnolia Boys Club. He served in both the Navy and Marine Corps. He retired in 1992 after more than 30 years of working alongside his wife, Bobbie, in their familyowned business, Builders Specialty Company. He was sometimes known as the "Christmas Light Man" or "the man with a great passion for tulips." Bill loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved to share the fruits of his labor - especially vegetables and flowers from his garden. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Magnolia for more than 45 years, where he loved attending Sunday services and he especially loved the beautiful gospel music sung by the members of the choir. A service celebrating his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Magnolia with Revs. David Watkins, Roger Dunlap and Paul Bullock officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Magnolia under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Watkins, Paul Bullock, Roger Dunlap, Stan Scroggins, Tom Bolding, Steve Whitehead, Marvin Lindsey and Bruce Estes."4
