Robert H. "Bob" Fiser Sr., 85, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at a local nursing facility. Bob was born in Morrilton, Ark., and served his country in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant during World War II, flying Corsairs as a Navy night fighter. After his military service, he played baseball and football at Arkansas Tech and received his B.S. degree from the University of Arkansas. He was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers and played for their farm team, the Mobile Bears. Bob moved to Panama City in 1953, and was the owner of Fiser Insurance Agency. He was a 50-year member of the Panama City Lions Club and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed quail hunting, fishing and college football. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Fiser; and parents, H.P. and Edith Fiser. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Tatum and Barbara Wiggins and husband, Grady, all of Troy, Ala.; son, Howard Fiser and wife, Janet, of Youngstown, Fla.; brother, Poindexter Fiser and wife, Mary Louise, of Elaine, Ark.; sister, Edith Mae Foster of Mobile, Ala.; three grandchildren, Katie Wiggins of Troy, Ala., Russell C. Fiser and wife, Casey, of Panama City and James H. Fiser and wife, Ami, of Chipley, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Lacie, Paige, Colton and Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tully Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with honors offered by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Harold Bazzel, Bill Allen, the Rev. Lonnie Mitchell, Russell Fiser, James Fiser and Grady Wiggins.4
