Biography
Charles Maltbia was the son of Ephraim Maltbia and Inez (nee Fortune) Maltbia.3 Charles grew up near Conway, AR and attended Pine Street High School.4
Maltbia, a pitcher, played many seasons with the semi-pro Conway Dodgers. In 1960 he was scouted and signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates.5 He attended the training camp of the Washington Senators that spring and was assigned to play with Washington's Wytheville, VA affiliate in the Class D Appalachian League but did not appear with the team.6 7
Maltbia played the 1962 and 1963 seasons with the Kansas City Monarchs.8 9 10 He played in the final East-West All-Star game on August 26th, 1962 in Kansas City.11
Maltbia died on March 26th, 1971 in Little Rock, AR at the age of 32.12 He was buried in Sinai Cemetery near Conway, AR.13
