"Freddie Ellis Duvall, 79, of Russellville, died Friday, January 2, 2015, at Ft. Smith. He was born December 11, 1935, to Ellis Hall and Lottie Bullock Duvall. Freddie was married to Etta Sue Ward Duvall from 1959 until her death in 1988. Before his retirement Freddie worked for American Express. Freddie was best known for his outgoing personality and natural athletic ability. He was awarded membership to the Russellville High School Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his skill in baseball, football, and basketball. Upon graduation from high school he received athletic scholarship offers from numerous colleges. Freddieattended Oklahoma A & M, (now Oklahoma State University), on a football scholarship. He later signed a professional baseball contract with the Boston Red Sox organization and played for three seasons. Freddie's love of sports continued throughout his life. He coached youth baseball teams for many years, played pickup basketball games well into his forties, and remained an avid tennis player until recently. He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; three siblings, Vance, Norma, and Ann. He is survived by his three children, Jill Duvall (Ann Irwin) of Russellville, Beau Duvallof Springdale, and Ty Duvall (Vicki) of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Ashley DuvallCalcaterra (Luke) of Russellville, Nicholas and Zachary Duvall of Dallas, Texas, and Benjamin and Dylan Duvall-Irwin of Russellville; and one great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Washfield Cemetery near Gum Log and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville."5
