George Foster

George Foster ("Rube") born January 5th, 1888 in Lehigh, OK was a professional baseball player from 1911-1925. Foster lived much of his life in Sebastian County, AR. He was the uncle of Paul Foster.


Foster was the son of English immigrants Jonathan and Mary Foster. He was born in Indian Territory near what is today Lehigh, OK. The family moved to Pittsburg, KS when Foster was young1 and later relocated to Bonanza, AR around 1900 or 1902.2 3

Foster lived in Fort Smith, AR for a number of years.4 He also maintained a farm in Bokoshe, OK, for many years and settled there after his baseball career.5 He died in Bokoshe on March 1st, 1976. He was buried in Milton Cemetery in Bokoshe.
