Biography
Childress was the son of Charles Henry Childress and Jesse (nee Jones) Childress.4 He was a native Osceola, AR, and later moved to Harvey, IL.5 6 7
Childress was given a tryout with the Little Rock Grays in early 1932, though it doesn't appear that he made the team.8 Instead, he may have played with the Osceola, AR All-Stars.9 In 1933, he played with the Claybrook Tigers10 and perhaps the Little Rock Stars.11 He pitched for the Caruthersville Greyhounds in 193612 , and may also have briefly played with Claybrook in 1936.13
Childress died on December 29th, 1984 in Harvey, IL. He was buried in Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, IL.14
