"Harold D. Bateman , 82, of Fort Smith passed away Dec. 17, 2014. He was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Tulsa to the late Charles Freeman Bateman and Anna Hottel Bateman . Harold was retired from ABF and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in Korea, and he was an avid golfer and a former minor league baseball player. He was preceded in death by his son, Daryl Bateman ; his daughter, Patti Johnson; and his brother, Ronald Bateman. Harold was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo Bateman ; a loving father to his son, Steve Bateman of Uniontown, and his daughter, Cheryl Price of Mansfield, Texas; and a loving grandfather to his six grandchildren, Allie and Garrett Price, Stephen and David Bateman, Kevin Newton and Clinton Johnson. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Bill Higgerson, George Foster, Ted Pullen, Jim Wright, Jerry Hassler and Jim Tindall. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home."3
