He was a former professional baseball player in the Southern League and a graduate of St. Louis University. He was a retired yardmaster for the Western Pacific Railroad. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Mamie Rushing; four sisters, Miss Joyce Rushing and Mrs. Frances Purser, both of Mississippi, Mrs. C. W. Smith of Teas and Mrs. Ralphy Dody of North Little Rock. Funeral was Monday."4
