Powell operated a grocery store in North Little Rock, AR.
Powell was likely connected to the 1930 Powell All-Stars. In 1931, he was the owner of the Little Rock Black Travelers. He sold the team in 1932 to Ernest "Buddy" Nolan.
Powell was later a board member of the Little Rock Housing Authority. He died on March 19th, 1974 and was buried in Have of Rest Cemetery in Little Rock, AR.2
