John W. Buzick, born May 11th, 1888 in Roberts, IL,1

Buzick attended the University of Illinois and played baseball there in 1910 before playing professionally from 1910-1912.4
Buzick died on May 21st, 1950 in Jonesboro, AR.5 He was buried in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro.6

"Jonesboro, May 21. John W. Buzick Sr., aged 63, Monette planter, ginner and golfer, died in a Jonesboro hospital today following an illness of several months. A native of Melvin, Ill., he was graduated from the University of Illinois as a civil engineer and later played professional baseball. He had been a resident of Monette for the past 30 years. His business interests including banking, cotton gins at Caraway, Monette and Lake City and sawmills at Black Oaks. He was the father of John W. Buzick Jr., former Arkansas State amateur golf champion. The elder Buzick also entered most of the state golf tournaments, usually playing in the second and third flights. Surviving are his wife; a son, John W. Buzick Jr., of Monette,; a daughter, Mrs. R. H. Morgan of Melvin, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Ringhisen of Toledo, O., and Mrs. Oscar Grismore of Chicago. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Tuesday at Gregg Chapel."7
