Excerpts
"Gentle Leigh McLendon, the hero of Lewisville and the [illegible] versatile star was there again with three safe singles [for Jonesboro]."5
"Red McLendon ruined a great professional base ball future when he quit the [Jonesboro] Zebras to play independent ball at Marshall, Texas. He was leading batsman and atcher, also a grand utility man. Jack Russell went with him and both have been ordered suspended by Jonesboro."6
"Reddie is back and the fans are happy. The Lewisville boy is a tower of strength to the team in every department and will help the Zebras climb to the top of the heap where they belong. All together now, “Glad you're back.” Red’s familiar face will be seen with pleasure by the Jonesboro fans in the game this afternoon between the Zebras and the Scouts"7
