"BOONEVILLE — Lindsey C. Campbell, age 82, of Booneville died Saturday, April 6, 1996. He was born on October 16, 1913, in Marshall, Ark., the son of Dwight F. Campbell and Elsie Lindsey Campbell. On September 24, 1939, he was married to Elizabeth Thrash. He was a member of the Booneville First Baptist Church, Kiwanis Club and a Mason. In 1936 and 1937, he played catcher for the El Dorado Oilers and Pine Bluff Judges, farm teams of the St. Louis Cardinals. He moved to Forest Park, Georgia, where he raised his family. He worked with young baseball players and served one term as Clayton County, Georgia, commissioner from 1973-1976. He retired in 1979 as a designer and draftsman for Simons-Eastern Engineering Company in Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by one son, Gordon Allan Campbell, in 1968 who was killed in action in Vietnam. Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth Campbell of Booneville; his son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Rose Campbell of Booneville; two half sisters, Martha Shelton of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Margaret Peconi of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren, Shawn Campbell of Magazine, Allan Campbell of Booneville and Lori Willis of Atlanta, Georgia.; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 8, 1996, in the Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Erby Burgess officiating."5
