"Rex Burnett Wehunt, 88, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away on April 2, 2018 in Mineola, Texas. Rex was born March 6, 1930 in Hot Springs to Jacob and Leah Burnett Wehunt. He lived in other places, but never for long and always returned to Hot Springs. Rex played baseball all around Hot Springs, and from 1948-1952 played in the Cotton States and Gulf Coast Leagues. He was a founding member of Harper Deer Camp. He was a Garland County Deputy under Sheriff Bud Canada and worked at Oaklawn Park for thirty-five years. Mostly, though, he was a fisherman. He was a fishing guide on Lake Ouachita for many years. He loved to be on or near the water, whether at Greeson, Degray or Ouachita. Rex is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Jerrie Houser Wehunt, his first wife, Lenette Quinn Wehunt, and his brothers, Perry, Bill and Max. Rex is survived by his son, Johnny Lee Myers, two daughters, Debbie Schwarz and Denise Brown, his sister-in-law, Judy Wehunt, five granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. Rex is also survived by his sons-in-law and best friends, Scott Schwarz and Robert Brown. His family loved him and will miss him very much. There will be a graveside service for Rex on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Cunningham Cemetery in Royal."3
