"Roy Nichols , Jr., 81, of Hot Springs Village died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 in a local hospital. He was born March 3, 1921 in Little Rock, AR to Roy Nichols , Sr. and Anna (Wofford) Nichols. Roy was a professional baseball player for 12 years and at one time was a member of the New York Giants and a playing manager for the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. He retired after 34 years from PPG Industries and was a member of Barcelona Road Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Willaim R. Nichols. Survivors include his wife, Doris (Baker) Nichols of HSV; a son, Dr. William Nichols of West Monroe, LA; and a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Nichols of Jacksonville, FL. Memorial services were April 6 at Barcelona Road Baptist Church. Cremation was under the direction of Caruth Village Funeral Home."1
