"Tom Vines, southpaw pitcher with Rock Hill (Tri-State) this season, was seriously injured in a car wreck at Batesville, Ark., November 3. He suffered a skull fracture when his automobile left the road at a curve and struck a tree. He was alone at the time. Vines, whose home is at Melbourne, Ark., had a 16-9 record at Rock Hill and was shifted to Greensboro (Carolina) for 1952. He broke in with Carthage (K-O-M) in 1950."5
