Excerpts

"Liberto came to the [Little Rock] club from the Fort Smith High School. He joined up even before he had his diploma, and had to leave the team to sit on the rostrum while the sheepskins were being handed out. At shortstop, he showed the nervousness to be expected of a juvenile, but when placed in right field, he became a star. He is fast, a dangerous and timely hitter, and, believe it or not, the image of Little Poison Wagner."6

"Sam Liberto, Little Rock infielder, had to leave spring training camp one day last week to return to his Fort Smith, Ark., home and line up with his Arkansas National Guard unit for federal inspection. He was back the next day, though with a discharge."7

"Miss Margaret Rasimas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rasimas of Plainsville [PA], and Sam Liberto, son of Mrs. Minne Liberto, Fort Smith, Ark., were married Sept. 23 at a nuptial mass in Church of the immaculate Conception, Fort Smith, Ark. Mrs. liberto is a graduate of Plains High School. Mr. Liberto was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Barons baseball club. They are residing at 823 South 19th street, Fort Smith, Ark."8
